Happy 7th Lunar Month!

u must be thinking that i am "SIAO", to even "celebrate" that. well, the lunar 7th month started yesterday, and everywhere's full of ashes, soot and joss sticks sticking around on the grass patch. HB casually mentioned that its amazing, that it seems to him that more people celebrate the "七月" than “新年". True hor!

Joining in the fun, this young couple also burned quite a lot of monies for the "好兄弟", in the hope that they will be more blessed this year. Who is "This Couple"? Me n HB lah, needless to ask rite, since u r in my blog... The more experienced old folks even taught us a couple of tricks, to make the "好兄弟" happy. Teach you a bit?

#1 - be generous with the paper monies and clothings (they will reciprocate your generousity lah)

#2 - dun forget abt the young aged spirits - burn more kiddo clothings

#3 - food wise, nice to offer them carbos, greens & plains - i.e. 3 bowl of rice, 3 plates of blanched chye-sim, 3 cups of plain water

#4 - titbits like peanuts, sweets, biscuits are HIGHLY encouraged!

#5 - be nice, not only to the "好兄弟", but to your fella neighbours... dun anyhow burn the incense paper on the floor. The govt celebrates the 7th month with us too, by providing the huge rusty bins. USE THOSE BINS.

Ok, besides the above, we also will be seeing mobile stages sprouting everywhere in every towns. The “歌台”is also a symbolic icon that reminds us, young or old, that the "Qi Guei" is here, for ONE FULL MONTH. But i am suspecting that perhaps in Singapore, a new trend is coming up., i.e. people will start queuing to watch, not only the “歌台”but film flicks with numbers as titles, the likes of "881" (see below promo poster)

Hey, i sincerely applaud Royston Tan's sincere production. At published time, i have yet to catch the much talkabout film, but i will definitely catch it, before the 7th month ends. Read somewhere that this is not your usual local production, but its more local than local.. u understand what i mean? hahaha..
