In Reciprocation of My Young Frens

In reciprocation of an entry made in honour of "Cat" i.,e. yours truly, I have promised to do a super long entry abt my "temps-turned-frens". But, i am gonna cheat a little, i.e. to blog not about just one person, but a few of these interesting little young adults, to make it into the "supposedly long entry"! Here goes:


Redemption Gals


I love to affectionately call them my "Redemption Gals", not because i am allowing anyone of them to be redeemed "away" from me. (cold jokes as usual). They are Rachel, Mich n Iris.

Well, in terms of seniority, Rachel has "followed" me since 2007, when we did my 1st "printer event". In fact, yup, i did blog abt it in my previous entry. Since then, she's always been my designated Redemption Officer. Young but steady, with occasional reassurance needed, she's always been my prized helper. Alongside with her, she intro-ed Michelle and Iris, both her besties, into the job. Yup, that makes it a total of 3 young adults...

Mich has assisted for several shows and has been excelling each time. Someone with a "quick temper" but mellows fast too, based on my observation. She's got ideals and has objectives in her life, but needs lots of encouragements. Bring on your confidence and march towards ur goals. Well, way to go, gal!

Iris, to me, is very alike to Mich. Both are pple with straight characters. Like means like, dun like means dun like. But they reminded me of myself when young. hahaha. And i thot thats very fine, cos when out in the working society, all these true characters will somehow be masked. At least, once in a lifetime, they get to be their own true selves.

SIM aka DREAM TEAM

Well, this team is not called Dream Team for nothing. Although the physical working durations are shorter than the Redemptiopn Gals, but the number of events we did were more than the above gals. Imagine working weekly with this team, my age "younger-ed" by 5 yrs!! Now this team has done me proud and full of pride i have for them!


Lynn, was my main contact for this group of pple. It was during Sel Dearest's event that I got to know Lynn. She was my "cue-girl" literally. Well, during that event, when the speakers went beyond stipulated timing, my pretty Cue Girl would raise her cue board to "attract" the speakers' attention. When i first set my eyes on her, i was like "What a Pretty CHICK"!! She has tis really sweet smile and the eye lashes flutters when she blinks! And when i clinched my RS deals, i got her to ask ard if there would be any interested frens willing to work and guess what? She got me the Dream Team! hahahah


During the 1st 3 months of my weekly RSs (pardon me, but i aint revealing client's name here), I had a total of 5 temps, Lynn, Mel, Angie, Eve and Suhaimi. We went thru product trainings and worked with positivity and hunour during each and every RS. I would usually pick them (except Suhaimi cos he rides) at a designated train station and would start our journey to our event site, where we would work for a straight 5 hrs into the night, then drive them bk to nearest train station.

During the initial stage, I would always confuse betwen Angie and Eve. WaHahaha, and i gotta confess here, that i din get to clear my doubts till the 3rd or 4th RS. hahaha, thats lousy, but so typical of an "aunty" with bad memory. Both gals are spunky lasses! It is amazing to me how fast and how good they are at their product knowledge. Both are the types who would throw their heads back and laugh heartily, but yet feminie enough too. Also, i always feel that they are positive go-getters, and willing to try new things.

Then i also have Suhaimi, whom is not from SIM, but is a fren of Lynn. A quiet man but with humour and opens up gradually with he reached a certain degree of familiarity with his team mates. I always thot he "looks" like my hb, with thick black hair, bespectacled, dark complexion and "skinny"....kekeke ;P

At this moment, i know someone is almost "screwing" his face, asking how come i am not talking abt him yet. wahahaha, Ok, besides the above 4, there's another one, who has been irritating me during all the RSs. Well, lucky for him and me, that # 1, he's "cute" and "attractive" (he said he is, not me), and # 2, i am a nice person who dun get angry easily. This person is non other than Junior Mel. He's our "pistachios", in chinese, we call it "Kai Xin Guo". RSs were made more interesting becos of his endless jokes, and chatterings. He is also my ready source that i will turn to, when i need extra temp staff, for he would help me to broadcast my requirements. This little "Torres" (he is a soccer-siao) sees soccer as his life. He is also my"caffeine" who keeps me awake every night, whenever i am online, for he will surely greet me with his 1st sentence ," Yo! Aunty Cat!!"... wahaha.. followed by a string of "suan-ings" and of cos the occasional sensible conversations, like "soccer", "school" or "daily reporting". kekeke


The above 5 has endured my endless "naggings" and "preachings" whether when there are window periods during RSs, or in the cars, when i sent them home after events... hahaha, come to think of it, i am really very lor soh lor... but its affectionate when i rewind and think abt the "past". The topics would always revolve ard their studies, their future etc... no wonder they call me "Aunty Cat"....hahahaha

Then, I have the 2 Js. Jay and Jinzhi, whom was introduced by Pistachio Mel, i tink, for one of my printer fair early this year. Naturally, the one who shares the same name with a popular, talented Taiwanese singer, who tops charts each time he releases his album, will never hesitate to liken himself to this singer. :P When i first met the 2 Js, both were tall and "manly"...hahaha, and heck, both bespectacled too... Doesnt help that both names start with "J"... and when i got confused, the brilliant but thick skinned Jay reminded me to "associate" him with "Jay Chou"!!! Can u beat that? I found someone who is more thick skin than me!! hoohoohooo!!

Jinzhi, on the other hand, is always the target of endless jokes by the above few... but just like me, very good naturedly went along with their teases. He is the eldest among the few, and hence, i felt, one of the more mature ones. But when the need arises, he can be pretty mischievous..hiak hiak hiak... I like his "oh, unsure, but lets just do it" kinda attitude. I also like his readily sincere smile! Basically, anyone who smiles, are nice pple, JUST LIKE ME!!!! wahahaha, Pistachio Mel, are u flipping yet???


Both Js did me VERY PROUD when they did their 1st IT show with me, by becoming my TOP SALES! Their "debut performance" were stunning! I felt that my initial insistence to use them for the fair has proven my foresight, once again. And becos of their wide network, they never fail to help me find enough manpower when i need help.


These group of young adults, made up my SIM aka Dream Team. Am proud when my clients at times said that "oh, i heard abt Cat's Dream Team"... wahahahaa.....


Promoters

Worked with so many promoters before, and all these kids have different characters. But there was one who left me with a very deep impression.... Ben. He is really mature for a man of his age, and mind u, i am talking abt a young age!!! But then again, basically anyone younger than me, IS young! I really appreciate the time when he kept me company while online, when i was tabulation sales report during my 1st IT show. I can rem, i was basically up from morning till next moring 5-6am almost every day, with a less than 3hrs sleep. And this young man, basically kept me company online too! And no, it was not the incessantly yakking non-stop type. . unlike the other temps, he is like a wisely old man, trapped in a young body...hahahaa.... sometimes, he even will remind me not to be so exploited by clients! wahahaha. . . . and when i said something that he felt was good advice, he would request for me to repeat again while he copied down! hahahaha, thats lotsa ego-boosting for me!

Well, hb always teases me, that suddenly within a year, i seemed to have "mothered" many kids! Well, i do enjoy the company of these young adults, becos it is also thru them, that I widen my understanding of the likes/dislikes, living patterns etc of this generation. Wah, shld strike off this sentence cos makes me older than i am lor... haha. I believe in treating pple right. End of the day, why stinge when I can share my life experiences? Sometimes hb chides me, for being kpo, especially when i tell him that i "counselled" so and so, or nagged at this or that person. He said pple may not like the interference. Up to now, i am trying to learn to be detached, but hmmm... its gonna take a long time for me to learn to be "cold"...
