Foodie Indulgence!

WAIT!! first, let me do a "throw head back and laugh" at myself first! wahahahaha. . . i so badly want to blog but have no interest in blogging my Mundane Monday Off Day details. So. . . i decided to blog about My Favourite Food! I say i am being very bo liao!!! kakaka
Well, listed below are some dishes that i find myself so drawn to, in no chronological order. In the first place, no need to list what's top favourite, what's 2nd best etc. Delicious? Just whack!! kekeke
Crabs!!
Ya, u name them, i eat them. Be it the different cooking styles or whether Mud Crabs or Fower Crabs or . . . . or. . . . Snow Crabs, from savoury chilli crabs, to spicy black pepper crabs and lately discovered (actually few years back) creamy butter crabs. Oh ya, not forgetting a whole bowl of unbelievably thick and richly flavoured Crab Bee Hoon soup. Darn, the thot of these are making me drool!
i love the challenge of "cleaning" the crabs meatless! Hey, its a skill to be able to get all those fresh meat out from the "skinny legs"!! If its a plate of savoury chilli crabs, i'll dive for the fried Mantou and dipped generously into the gravy. For creamy butter crabs, the shiokest part is to marry the slightly fried crabs with the oh-so-rich cream. Oh, flower crabs!! i love to cook this with lotsa big green onions. This is the easiest type of crabs to cook, as Mud Crabs take a slightly longer time to cook, and requires more efforts to make it less stinky and for the taste to seep into the meat. For Flower Crabs, it is naturally sweet, whether u steam them, or just a simple stir fry with chilli or eggs or onions.
I remember i would always reward myself for any hardwork, by treating myself to a Crabby Session. Yeap, quite crappy u may say. But yes, if its family dinner for any celebrations, we cant miss out a crab dish. And, i am known by hb to be "crazy" to run down to buy just ONE crab, in order to satisfy my cravings. :P
Laksa
Another favourite food! I was trained by dad when young (like 5yo) to start appreciating spicy stuff. What better way to train my taste bud to accept the spicy taste? Laksa of cos! Having tasted diff Laksas, i swear by the Jlan Besar's "spoon only" laksa! The fact that it is pretty watery without too much lemak. I just like my laksa to be not too thick with lemak. Health conscious? wahaha, i dunno leh, just subconsciously dun like lah. Oh, the Bendemeer market's Ming Kee used to sell pretty superb laksa too, but too bad, the old couple sold it off to someone and eversince then, i stop patronising. I rememberly fondly that when i was pregnant with Daryl, i used to eat Ming Kee's laksa twice EVERY week. Now u know where do i get my extra pounds?? *wink*.
My favourite way of eating laksa? It must only be thin beehoon-mee. But lately, i seem to enjoy thick beehoon too!! hahaha. And, if I am having laksa for breakfast and if MacDonald's is anyway near, u'll be sure to see me buy a hashbrown to accompany the dish. I would immerse the hashbrown into the soup and when its all soggy, i'll scoop up the soup with lots of small bits hashbrown. Oh, it is SEDAP! "i no bluff you wan! Must remember to try hor?" :)
Steamboat aka Hot Pot
Technically, i dun consider SteamBoat to be a dish, but it is a combination of many nice food to become a dish. For me, hot pot whether eaten by a group of people or just 2, is equally NICE! For group hotpot session, i appreaciate the atmosphere set, when everyone automatically joke, laugh and eat. And better still if its a buffet session!!! I like to have hotpot with hb alone too. Cos during the meal, i would always be in high spirits and talk and eat non stop. Hb's sometimes like the "worm" in my body. He just know when i need to have my hotpot fix!
On days that i would like to splurge on a good steamboat, its usually a choice of either Coca or Chongqing Magic HotPot, heavily dependent on where is my current location. But not cheap lor! Per pax usually ranges from $35 to $40! Steep ya? But who says cheap steamboats are not nice? Since school days, i would frequent Parkway Parade's steamboat stall at the B1 foodcourt. Well, i "witnessed" it expanded from a small stall to a stall with designated seating arrangements, stating "No Outside Food Allowed".... I love its half-half pot. We will certainly have a mix of tom yam and chicken soup. One typical meal btw 2 diners would range abt $30? Only con is that it is ala-carte and not buffet. But, still good lor!!!! Sluuuuuurrrrrp!
Chwee Kueh
Lest u think i always aim for expensive food, let me tell u this, that i adore chwee kueh!!! Rice flour mixed with oily+salty choy por (preserved radish) is TWO thumbs up! And served piping hot with good chilli, this simple dish will never fail to brighten my day! Tiong Bahru's Jain Bo serves the BEST chwee kueh!!!!!
On side notes, i always feel that choy por is fantastic! With fried eggs, chwee kueh or to stir fry with long beans, the taste is beyond description!! its plain good!
Well, almost there, mind's not thinking anymore abt my food indulgence, cos i am sleepy!!!! Guess i will be seeing lots of crabs in my dreams! hehehe
