Lamenting big time just before CNY, becos the mood and ambience and atmosphere's all WRONG!! No one seems to enjoy CNY anymore.. why is that so? Everyone is just going thru the motions, me included. I recalled CNY when i was a child. 1 month before CNY, my parents would be so anxious buying all sorts of CNY goodies and tidying up the house. Dad would always hang the red and gold ornaments around various parts of the house. How i fondly recall those moments. I must be getting old, or else, I must be going thru some "trying" period. keke
Now, its just weird, seeing my hb repeating the same routine as my dad did when i was a child. Half of my heart finds it endearing yet the other part feels weird. It becomes weirder still, when i feel myself looking forward to the noise and crowd and visiting. People do change, and i suppose thats very true then.
We closed shop for CNY on Monday at 1pm. But a client's event at Rasa Sentosa ended at 6pm, so effectively, i worked full day instead of the half day. My family had dinner at Gilman Village's Grand Phoenoix Court. It was like a "close shop" CNY dinner for us, directors and shareholders.
Tuesday was good, cos when son's at school, Nunu our part time maid came over to clean the hse, and before her arrival, hb and me did our last minute marketing. I really love marketing. Its so therapeutic, comparing to work. I m beginning to tink of myself as a common commoner... Go marketing, say "hi-s" to the stall holders etc... but wait a minute! I AM a commoner!! In the evening, we bought son to Marina Sq for shopping. It was an indescribible outing.
Wednesday, CNY eve!! Got up early and immersed myself in the kitchen the whole morning. Did up father and son's favourite fish porridge, and did an extra dish of stir-fried toufu for my FIL, who's bedriddened at Ju Eng Hospital, a nursing home at Jalan Kayu. I can see that my FIL is very happy although he's not been able to talk for the longest time. Seeing him on wheel-chair, passing his time daily, was sad. I wish we can do more, but . .
After departing from Ju Eng, we headed to my mum's plc for our reunion dinner. Steamboating - our favourite activity! And i busied myself in the kitchen for another few hours.
We had such fun feasting and teasing. Daryl was good and everyone ate alot. But sadly, this reunion doesnt feel like a reunion, probably bcos i see my parents almost everyday and we dined together at least 3-4 times a week... hahaha
Thursday, CNY 1st Day! Went visiting at Jurong and Bedok and reached home by 2pm. Another round of preparation works in the kitchen. This time, its for the GES gang. They will come every year on the 1st day... and its been our practise to hv dinner in my house. The past few years, i will stay up after reunion dinner till almost 2-3am, to prepare the food for the guys, but tis year, i decided on a simpler fare. Steamboating IS the deal! ahaha... Bert n Debb came over earlier for a round of MJ and by 6plus, most arrived and we had our 2-2.5hrs dinner.kekeke
Friday, CNY 2nd Day!! Woke up late (9am) and did fried rice for the 2 men in the house. Then went for visiting, to my my SIL's house. Adjourned to Telok Blangah for more visting before we picked Gilbie up to mike's plc. At mike's plc, the ladies had MJ while the men? Card games+drinkings! We left abt 10plus (earliest in the recent years).
Back at home, i was busy with my fb when bestie msn-ed me. we talked rot for a while (actually abt 1.5hrs) and he created my next blogging topic... Ok, its now 2am, and i'm feelin sleepy, while sitting down on a reclining armchair, with sentimental music in the backgrounds and cool breeze sweeping my face. Its quality "ME" time... Think i shall just go hit the sack before i blog abt the next topic...
