CJ7 Afterthoughts

Thanks to bestie for his free CJ7 Gala Premiere Tickets. To him, movie watching is a waste of time. To me, i perceive as a luxury way of spending my time. To each his own, i should think. New fren Sean gave me another pair of tix too, and hence i hv 2 pairs of tix - 1 pair for Coco-Cola Hall (Hall 9) and Panasonic Hall (Hall 8). Basically, their company was one of the sponsors for Stephen Chow's CJ7.

We picked Gilbie (my fav term for bert n debb) from their hse and headed to Valley Point for Jap Dinner before hitting to Cineleisure Orchard. While we drove past Cineleisure, we culd see many fans and media snapping pics and seemed like there was also a lion dance performance too. We decided that there's no way for us to squeeze thru and hence went into the building using the side door.

We went into the 2 separate halls and said that we will contact again after the show. In my theatre, it was barely half-filled. Not surprising, cos from my understanding, up to 3 halls were used for this gala premiere. What was supposedly a comedy directed by long time commedian, turned out otherwise. Many walked out of the theatre saying that Stephen Chow's productions were no longer as good as before. However, i thot otherwise. To me, i think i like his recent few movies way much better than those he screened in 10 yrs ago.

His recent years' productions, seemed to be a hit with me..kekeke. Somehow, many emotions were always stirred and aroused and i walked out feeling enlightened. I know many would say" there she goes again... drama-mama", but really, i just love shows that are thoughts provoking.

Am gonna highlight some scenes that got me all teary, amidst the other audiences' laughters:

1) XiaoDi got whacked by Father in public toystore, for refusing to put down the electronic toy dog. It is terribly heartbreaking to hear the Dad said " daddy dun hv money today. we will buy when i get my pay." Tears welled up immediately. I'm hopeless!

2) XiaoDi got badly discriminated by the teacher, so being poor and dirty and unhygienic. He picked up the teacher's pen from the ground, and got badly scolded and verbal abused by the teacher to leave the pen on the floor, following which the teacher used his hankie to pickup the pen, openly indicating that XiaoDi's dirty and shld nt dirty his belongings.

3) Father and son were eating (plain rice and rotten apples, and boneful fried fish w/o meat), and when a cockroach crawled on the same wall where they were eating dinner, son smacked the roach, and continued eating. Father scolded him and said he shld finish his food before smacking the roach, and before we knw., the screen showed the wall with many other roaches.

It was terrifying for me, nt becos i saw the roaches, but becos my heart sunk big time and while pple ard me were laughing damm hard, i was the complete opposite. I was tearing away. I am LOUSY! Somehow, i think i am in sync-ed with what message Stephen Chow was trying to bring out. I am not saying that those who laughed did not capture the main idea, but i guess i was very silent thru out the show, which is so unlike me.

I was quite affected by the show, and after we reconciled with Gilbie, we walked to collect our car. I was still pretty much silent, although i still engaged in small talks. The emotions inside were battling big time. Well, for those who have not watched the show yet, do go watch ang tell me what u guys think or feel?
